Sunday 16th August was thirty two years since Elvis Presley died at Graceland in Memphis. He would have been 74 years old this year. To celebrate the life of the man, Imagine have secured for our competition a remarkable piece of history, a 1956 Elvis Contract along with a photograph of the signing.

On 31st January 1956 Elvis was in New York and signed contracts with the William Morris Agency at their offices on Broadway. This agreement was countersigned by a William Morris Agency representative in the presence of Col. Tom Parker. Parker did not officially become Elvis’ full time manager until March 15 that year, but this agreement gave him approval of all contracts to be entered into by Elvis Presley during the term of the exclusive theatrical agencies agreement.

This could be said to be one of the most important contract ever signed by Elvis Presley, It was signed just as his career was beginning to accelerate. Following the signing of this major career contract, he went on to make his first major television appearance on the Ed Sullivan show on September 9, 1956.
